The Urban Animal Network project, funded by the Interreg North-West Europe programme, runs from January 2026 to April 2029. This project brings together cities, universities and associations from several North-West European countries.
The Urban Animal Network project goal is to help wild animals move safely and freely through urban environments across four key areas: the air, tree canopy, shrubs, and water. This will be done by improving connections between green spaces and creating more habitats.
These efforts will tackle both physical obstacles (like roads or buildings) and social challenges (such as public awareness or engagement). Local communities will play a key role in shaping solutions to ensure they meet local needs, while citizen science projects will help track and measure their success.
