In “Game-based approaches for citizen participation”, Ítalo explored how serious games, in particular geogames, can serve as rigorous methods for Citizen Science. This hybrid event took place on Friday 27 February 2026 in Library Link 3, James Joyce Library, UCD and online via Zoom.

About the Speaker
Dr Ítalo Sousa de Sena is an Assistant Professor in Digital Landscape Design at UCD’s School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy. His research explores how digital tools can transform our physical spaces, with a specific focus on geogames, virtual geographic environments, and landscape visualization. Most notably, he leads the Craft-my-Street project (funded by Research Ireland), which uses Minecraft to engage the public in urban planning and climate action. Prior to his current role, Ítalo contributed to the major Horizon 2020 projects HeritACT and SCORE.
